FAQ

You might already find your answers in our FAQs, where we’ve answered the most frequently asked questions.

Together, we can do even more for animals!
There are many ways to support us – no matter how big or small.

Financial support:
With a donation, you directly help provide care, medical treatment, and a better life for the animals.

Sharing & spreading the word:
Share our posts on social media, tag us in your posts, and tell your friends and family about our work. Every shared story can change an animal’s life.

Distributing flyers:
Would you like to make a difference offline as well? We are happy to send you our flyer as a PDF, which you can print and distribute in your area.

Every form of support means so much to us – thank you for being by our side!

We truly appreciate your willingness to support us as a volunteer on the ranch, but unfortunately this is not possible. The team on the ranch works very closely and precisely together. This is necessary, as even small mistakes can have serious consequences. Our caution is not based on a lack of trust in the abilities of external helpers, but on the need to minimize any risk.

It is also stressful for the dogs when there is constantly new staff around. We hope for your understanding of this measure, which primarily serves to protect everyone involved.

Thank you very much for wanting to support us 💛

Important information for you:
We have only one official donation account. It is located in Switzerland, as this is where our organization was founded. You can find the relevant details directly below the QR code.

⚠️ Beware of scammers:
Unfortunately, there are repeatedly scammers on the internet and social media who try to intercept donations using false information. Please do not be misled and only transfer funds to the account provided by us – this is the only way we can ensure that your support truly reaches the dogs.

If you are donating from outside Switzerland, please always use a SEPA transfer in euros to our IBAN. Switzerland is part of the SEPA system, so no additional bank fees will apply.
Please do not make an international transfer – it is not necessary and may cause unnecessary fees that we would much rather use for our dogs.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your trust and support 🐾

⚠️ Beware of scammers:
Unfortunately, there are always scammers on the internet and social media platforms trying to intercept donations with false information. Please never send money to any other PayPal account – there is only the one provided by us. This ensures that your support goes directly to the dogs.

Difference between Asyl & Ranch?
The Asyl is the municipal shelter in Bugojno. Savethedogsbih took over responsibility for the shelter in October 2023. We cover all expenses, including staff salaries, food, veterinary care, as well as maintenance and renovation work – everything the Asyl needs.

Which dogs are in the Asyl?
Rescued dogs from the Bugojno region, the Donji Vakuf and Gornji Vakuf regions, abandoned or surrendered dogs, as well as dogs from the veterinary station and emergency cases from the streets.

What does the ear tag mean?
Dogs receive an ear tag once they have been registered by the city, vaccinated, and neutered.

Are all ranches the same?
On our land, there are different ranches and sections of various sizes: quarantine areas, a puppy kindergarten, teenage areas, as well as the large ranches. Ranches 1–4 are connected to each other, while the new ranches 5–6 are located a few hundred meters apart.

Are all dogs neutered and microchipped?
Every dog receives veterinary care upon arrival, is registered, and gets a microchip as well as a passport. Puppies stay together at first and are neutered at the appropriate age.

How large is the ranch?
All ranches combined cover approximately 260,000 m².

How do we find out about dogs in need?
We are often contacted by owners, dogs are spotted and reported by helpers or local residents, or they are brought directly to us.

Rescue process
The dog is secured with calmness, time, and care, and then taken as quickly as possible for veterinary examination, treatment, and registration. After a quarantine period, the dog is moved – depending on its health condition – to one of our ranches.

How long does a dog stay in quarantine?
The duration is always determined individually. Many dogs are weak, sick, or have undergone surgery at the time of rescue and therefore require more time, care, and medical attention. Other dogs can leave quarantine sooner. The purpose of quarantine is primarily to closely monitor the dog’s health, understand and assess its character, and decide which pack and ranch the dog can be integrated into – and of course, to protect our other dogs.

We are incredibly grateful for any initiative taken in support of our dogs. Every contribution helps and truly makes a difference.

To ensure everything runs smoothly, we would like to kindly point out the following: Our Savethedogsbih logo is legally protected and may therefore not be used independently. We also ask that no fundraising campaigns are created via platforms such as GoFundMe, as this may lead to confusion.

But don’t worry – we are happy to provide you with our flyer as a PDF, which you can use for your campaign. Simply send us a short E-Mail, and we will share it with you. Thank you for making the world a little better for our dogs.
